Nirree, for me, sits somewhere between a house and a home. Not the bricks and plaster, but that moment when you finally get in, shoes off, kettle on, and you catch yourself looking round the room thinking, yeah, this’ll do nicely.
It wasn’t born out of a clever plan. More like a bad habit, if I’m honest. I kept noticing the little things — the chair that makes you stay put even when you said you were leaving, the lamp that softens a corner that used to feel a bit bleak, the rug that’s nicer under bare feet than it probably has any right to be. Before long I’d filled every spare inch of my flat with this stuff. My mates started calling it a storeroom, which was fair.
So Nirree became the place to pass those things on. Some are new, some are old, all of them picked because they made me stop for half a second. That’s the only rule, really. If it doesn’t make me pause, it doesn’t make it through the door.
We’re not trying to build showroom-perfect spaces here. Real homes aren’t like that. They’ve got mismatched mugs in the cupboard and post left on the table. Nirree’s just about adding the kind of pieces that fit into that life and make it feel a bit better.
